Wilkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome..

Waking up this morning with a head ache that only got worse when I heard the news that Donald Trump has become the new President of the United States.  He will 'make America great again' ... this self serving ignorant misogynist.  I cannot imagine what the next 4 years will be like but I don't think this future will be bright - orange maybe, but not one filled with hope.  After 'brexit' this will only add fuel to the rhetoric of so many wannabe leaders with extreme anti-Other ideologies.

What worries and puzzles me most than anything is the idea that isolationism has become so popular.  Keep the Other out, protect your own and thrive.  But without international collaboration, mutual tolerance and appreciation, interest in the values and traditions of Others no-one develops and thrives.  

 All the more reason to start on the next project proper.  I'm planning a trip In January to the Netherlands to meet with Nicole and a group of artists with Dutch-Indonesian heritage.  And I am also considering working on a new project that involved the NHS and all their foreign workers, without whom the NHS would not have survived this long.
